In probability, what is an event?

One or more of the outcomes in the outcome space (sample space).

Examples of events
where the experiment is rolling a single die:

[1] An example of an event
     that is just a single outcome
     is getting a 2

[2] An example of an event
     that comprises two outcomes
     is getting a 3 or a 4

[3] An example of an event
     that comprises three outcomes
     is getting an even number.
