MODE
The one
which occurs most often
Example:
1, 2, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 8
The mode is 5
More About The Mode

MODAL CLASS
or MODAL GROUP
The category
which has the most items
Example:
Favourite Colour
Of Different People:
Red (5), Blue (4), Green (9)
More people like green
than red or blue
The modal class is green

MEDIAN
The one in the middle
if the numbers
are put in order
Example:
1, 3, 4, 7, 8
The median is 4

MEAN
The answer that you get
if you add up all the items
and then divide
by the number of items
Example:
2, 4, 6, 8
We see that there are 4 items
Add up all the items
3 + 5 + 7 + 9 = 24
Divide by the number of items
24 ÷ 4 = 6
The mean is 6

RANGE
The answer that you get
if you start with the highest number
and subtract the lowest number
Example:
4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 14, 15
Highest = 15
Lowest = 4
Highest - Lowest = 15 - 4 = 11
The range is 11
